Best Bet for Alamo Bowl

It was so nice to finally get back in the W column on Monday Night as the Dolphins cruised to a blowout victory over the Saints. Let’s make it two in a row with our Best Bet for the Alamo Bowl.

Ducks in Disarray

Oregon is going to be so short-handed in this game, as at least 31 scholarship players have not been practicing for this bowl game. The Ducks will especially be hurt on the defensive side of the ball. Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead is coaching in this game but he’s already accepted the head coaching job at Akron (huh?), which makes you wonder how much time he spent preparing for the OU defense.

Former Ducks coach Mario Cristobal left to take the head coaching job at Miami a few weeks ago. All reports out of Eugene say that the team took the news really hard. You have to wonder how focused the Ducks will be for this pretty meaningless bowl game.

Oregon still has a couple of playmakers on offense in QB Anthony Brown and RB Travis Dye. The only problem is that the Ducks are going to be missing a couple of key offensive linemen for this game. Brown has been erratic throwing the ball down the field all year long so all OU has to do is stack the box to slow down Dye and the running game.

Big Game Bob is Back

Sure, Lincoln Riley leaving to take the USC job was quite a shock for this OU program. However, they decided to bring back legendary head coach Bob Stoops for this bowl game. Oklahoma’s players should play hard for Stoops since he is so revered in Norman.

Kennedy Brooks, the Sooners’ star running back, could have a huge game against a decimated Oregon front 7. We also like that backup QB Spencer Rattler is gone. That should help starting QB Caleb Williams relax and play a bit better since he won’t be looking over his shoulder every time he throws an errant pass.

We think Stoops still has enough juice to get a blowout win here in the Alamo Bowl. Lay the points and best of luck with all your Wednesday action! Boomer Sooner!
